Edmond Hustinx > ideals

The earnings from factories and licenses enabled Edmond Hustinx to indulge himself in his artistic hobbies and particularly to stimulate others in the exercise of the arts and sciences. In this way, he set up prizes for music, for example, for the visual arts and for science. All prizes were associated with institutes or institutions established in Maastricht.

Hustinx saw the awarding of prizes as a way to honour and support scientists and artists – preferably promising young people not yet burdened down with accolades.
To ensure that the realisation of his ideas could continue after his death, Edmond Hustinx set up the foundation named after him in 1961.
